Dr. Sanjai Thankachen
Medical Director
Dr. Sanjai Thankachen, M.D. is the Medical Director at Fresh Start of California, specializing in both substance use and mental health treatment. A graduate of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medicine with psychiatric residency training at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, he brings over two decades of clinical experience. Board-certified and active in the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Thankachen provides compassionate, evidence-based care for clients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and co-occurring substance use issues. His leadership ensures each patient receives safe, individualized treatment throughout their recovery journey.
Dan Jimmerman
Clinical Director
Daniel Jimmerson is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor at Fresh Start of California, licensed in California (#LPCC 12849) and Arizona (#LPC 22828). He began his career as a fitness trainer for treatment clients before becoming a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC #Ci21171218). Daniel holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology with an emphasis in Addiction and Recovery from Liberty University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. He specializes in CBT, trauma-informed care, and is trained in EMDR and IPSRT, bringing broad experience with diverse populations to our team.
